Bakan Khola Hydro-Electric (BKHEP) Project is located at Bhotkhola Rural Municipality -2,Sankhuwasabha district, Koshi Province in northern east of Nepal. The project area lies between 87° 27’ 01” E to 87° 30’ 01 “and 87° 46’ 56” N to 87° 48’29”N. The total catchment area of the project is 72.2 km2.The project is conceptualized as a Peaking Run of River(PRoR) scheme. The installed capacity of the project is ( 44 MW). It produces a total average annual energy of net 257.67 GWh.The generated power will be fed into the integrated power system of Nepal at the nearest national grid substation proposed at Haitar, Sankhuwasabha which is 24 Km. far from our proposed powerhouse and the transmission line building cost will be shared proportionately among the ongoing three hydro-electric project namely, Bakan Khola HEP(44 MW), Chhujung Khola HEP(63 MW) and Upper Chhujung Khola HEP(40 MW) mutually. The design discharge of the project is 5.15m3/sec .The project utilizes the net head of 1003m and the head race tunnel is 3307m .
